On my wander around the streets of Benidorm this week, I popped into the Tower Lounge on Calle Gerona and witnessed a very funny and unique show by Eric Lovaine.
Eric’s show is almost a stroll down memory lane as he incorporates slapstick comedy, a type not seen too often these days and together with perfect timing made for a superb evening. From the moment Eric took to the stage, the capacity audience warmed to him and to be honest it is hard not to like this funny man who involved the audience for the whole hour which he performed. The props were plentiful and varied, each one used to great effect which at times had the crowd hysterical with laughter. The highlight of the show for me was the impersonation of Sir Norman Wisdom. I have seen a few comics try to emulate Norman’s style but none so good as this one, every characteristic and movement had been carefully scrutinised and it was obvious it was a well rehearsed part of the act.

Originally from Plymouth, Eric moved to the Costa Blanca a little over a year ago and straight away found work for his act which is a far cry from his profession in the UK where he worked as a builder specialising in carpentry and joinery.
There is also another show Eric performs entitled Bobby Sox where he sings songs from the swing era including numbers by Bobby Darin, Matt Monroe and of course the governor, Frank Sinatra.
I can honestly say I came away from the show with a smile on my face having thoroughly enjoyed watching this very talented man.
