Tony Scott  Comedian
He recalls: “They were always very funny and looked at life differently.” He clearly holds them in very high esteem. “My parents are my heroes.”

It should be explained that Tony actually discovered his own comic talents almost by accident. He used to go to a bar in San Francisco where, if you were prepared to stand up with the microphone for five minutes and attempt some stand-up comedy, you’d get a free a pitcher of beer. Well, everyone needs an incentive don’t they?

Tony had truly found his niche and explains: “I just love making people laugh.” So from those experimental, but very successful evenings, he arrived in one of Europe’s finest cabaret hot-spots - Benidorm to unleash his act on the town’s hundreds of weekly visitors. He has now been heating up the comedy scene here for a staggering 19 years, so if you’re a regular or resident of this area, you’ve probably already had the ‘Tony Scott experience’. Tony also enjoys the close community spirit that exists between the entertainers; the very talented Danny Downing, Mike Curtis, Gary George and Johnny Kalender are close associates who’s shows Tony really enjoys watching - when he’s not under the spotlight himself. As far as Tony is concerned, Benidorm is “the most beautiful place in the world”. He enthuses: “I’ve travelled all over; Japan, Russia, South Africa, loads of places … but for me nothing is better than Benidorm.” Well, we agree.

In reality Tony has two personas. On stage he’s every inch the power-hitting comedian, however off stage, he’s actually very shy. Comedy may be an important part of his life, but the number one love of his life is without doubt his beloved daughter Nicole. Truly the apple of his eye, Nicole travels with her father on holiday to the far-flung corners of the world. For her dedicated father, she makes the perfect companion; not least due to her talent with languages (She speaks three). In fact, Nicole is Tony’s “inspiration”, including for his raucous stage act. Nicole wasn’t quite as impressed as his audiences though, summing-up the show as “rude, disgusting and you drink too much”. Unfortunately Tony’s mum is of the same opinion.

But the majority of Benidorm-goers absolutely love it. You can witness his infamous stand-up show in the heart of Benidorm every night and make your own mind up. He appears live at the fantastic Zodiac and Stardust venues every night.

Introducing Tony Scott

He is known locally as Benidorm's finest comic import, so we hit the Stardust Cabert venue to meet the man with the gift of the gab.

Resident comedian Tony Scott was born in Florida, USA, where his first job was as a waiter. He dallied with a career as a semi-professional American footballer, even trying out for New Orleans Saints, but had still not found his calling in life. The people to thank for Tony’s journey into comedy are actually his parents.
